NC's Trashy Squirrel Hunt Gains Traction From Corporate Partners!

First Lite caught wind of our Trashy Squirrel Hunt and wants in on the action. The iconic hunting brand is sponsoring two "Southeast Starter Kits" each valued at $370 for two lucky TSH '21 participants—one for a mentor and one for a mentee.
If you don't know already then you should: Trashy came to life back in 2019 because NC BHA wanted to get new hunters out in the woods. Our members had volunteered to staff a deer hunting seminar put on by NCWRC a few months prior and the hunt planned after the classwork unfortunately fell through. Knowing we'd lose some to most through attrition if they had to wait for next deer season, we created the Trashy Squirrel Hunt as an excuse to get those kids hunting while giving everyone the opportunity to clean up our public lands and have some fun in the forests of NC.

Three years later, NC BHA is doubling down on the roots of TSH by partnering with the good folks at Opportunity Outdoors in hopes of growing their mentor network and the mentees that need 'em and we couldn't be more grateful for the support in this effort from First Lite. The Southeast Starter Kit includes a pair of Obsidian Merino Pants, a Kiln Hoody, an Aerowool Neck Gaiter, and a kickass Trucker Hat. The winners can choose from the men's or women's line and the good people at First Lite will happily advise on use, care, and sizing.

Here's how to enter:
--
Mentor Southeast Starter Kit — All you have to do is register with Opportunity Outdoors at https://opportunityoutdoors.com/trashy/. OO is a new, NC-based company founded by BHA members and dedicated to conservation through R3: recruitment, retention, and reactivation of hunters & anglers. Opportunity Outdoors will not sell or otherwise share your personal information with any other organization or individual. The winner will be drawn at random.
--

Mentee Southeast Starter Kit — To win this kit, all we need is a name, a way to contact the entrant, and a photo of the mentee with a licensed hunter taken the day of the hunt. Remember, new hunters don't even need to hunt! They just need to be out on a hunt with licensed hunters chasing squirrels. Only one entry per mentee and mentees are defined as according to the rules spelled out on this site. The winner will be drawn at random.
