Is there a better way to kick off National Public Lands Day and the fall hunting season than with an access project?
We don’t think so!
Join the New England Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers Saturday, September 28th for a Public Lands Day Project. One of the major bridges into the Nulhegan Basin Division of the Silvio O. Conte National Wildlife Refuge needs to be re-decked and BHA members are going to help! This 75-foot bridge on Stone Dam Road, over the Black Branch of the Nulhegan River, serves as the major access point into the 45 square mile wildlife refuge for all types of hunting and angling opportunities.
Volunteers will meet at the Refuge Headquarters at 9 a.m. for a briefing and then we’ll carpool to the bridge project location for work from 10 until about 4. There will be educational opportunities with USFWS staff on hand. Tools and equipment will be provided. Steel toe boots and work gloves are highly recommended. There will be snacks, water and light sandwich fare for a working lunch available. This project will take place rain or shine, so come prepared.
A low-key pint night to follow at Essex House and Tavern in nearby Island Pond, VT for those interested.
Spread the word and bring a friend who might like to join BHA: new and renewing members who sign up at the event will get a 1:100 chance to win a 75-quart Yeti Tundra cooler!
