The Great American Outdoors Act

In March, Sens. Gardner (R-CO), Manchin (D-WV), Daines (R-MT), Warner (D-VA), Portman (R-OH), Heinrich (D-NM) and 53 original cosponsors introduced the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA, S. 3422), legislation that dedicates $900 million to the Land and Water Conservation Fund and addresses the maintenance backlogs of our public land management agencies. GAOA is a bipartisan bill recognized by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who announced his intention to file cloture (limits floor debate) and consider the legislation on the Senate floor in early June.

The Great American Outdoors Act is key to enhancing hunter and angling opportunities on our public lands and waters. It also provides readily available jobs that repair the roads, trails, and restore fragmented habitat that benefit our nation’s $887-billion outdoor recreation economy.
