8:00 to 10:00 - Sunrise Hike to Hunt

Start off the morning with some exercise! Come join us for a Hike to Hunt!

• This will be a ~4 mile hike with modest to moderate elevation.
• We'll be meeting at the BHA tent at the bottom of the hill in front of the brewery and carpooling 1.3 miles to the trailhead at the end of Spruceton Rd.
• We leave at 8:00 am, so please be there and ready to hop into a vehicle promptl

What to expect:

• Please wear sturdy footwear. (NO flip-flops or Crocs). Catskills trails are rocky and can be slippery on humid summer mornings. If you have weak/bad ankles, trekking poles are a good idea.
• Insects! There are some black flies. It's not as bad as Maine or the 'Dacks, but if you are sensitive, please wear appropriate protective clothing.
• Wicking, non-cotton clothing is HIGHLY recommended. Summer hikes can be quite humid and you'll want help to move moisture off your skin.
• Please bring more water than you think you'll need. With the humidity, you will sweat, but not evaporatively cool. Bring extra water so you can drink enough to stay hydrated and cool. (bring your own trail snacks while you're at it!)
• WELL-BEHAVED dogs are welcome. They must be rock solid with other dogs. (others may be bringing their canines to hike as well.) Part of this trail does see a lot of canine traffic. Please bring poop bags and be prepared to pack out your furry friend's solid waste. Let's leave the trail better than we found it.
• If 4 miles and moderate elevation gain doesn’t pass muster for much of hike in your book, try loadin' up your hunting pack with some weight to make it a more strenuous hike for you.

• Try your hand at fly casting
• If you don’t have a fly rod that's okay we will have a few available for you to try your hand at casting.
• We encourage you to bring your own fly rod too.
• Prizes awarded

1:00 - Woods Walk with Elodie

Take a casual walk in the woods with a foraging expert and learn about the plants you can consume or use and some to stay clear of.

3:00 - Turkey Tips & Tactics

How do you pull a henned up Tom over to your calls? Which calls and moves do you use when that Tom gets hung up out of sight and range? What are some unconventional tactics to reel in that gobbler? Get answers to these questions, and share some of your experiences during our Turkey Tips and Tactics event.

4:00 - Elk Calling Contest

Let's put the sounds of Elk backing New York at Muster in the Mountains!  Join in on the fun and compete in the Elk calling contest.  You can sign up at the merchandise tent, no cost to enter but prizes will be awarded. Let's have some fun!

The rules are simple:

• Single round elimination, two contestants will go head to head and judges will pick the winner to advance to the next round.
• Contestants will have 30 second to give their calling sequence, the sequence must include a cow mew, bugle and a chuckle
• Must bring your own calls, bugle tubes, etc.
• Prizes awarded
