Stay tuned for a potential reschedule later this summer.Join Montana BHA as we restart our Chapter Campout Tradition! This year, well be camping at Blackfoot-Clearwater WMA from June 9 - 11! Come join chapter leaders and fellow BHA members for a weekend of great times, belly laughs and the return of the Backcountry Olympics! This is an entirely free event! The Montana Chapter will be covering the group permit costs.The Chapter will be providing dinner on Saturday the 10th; no other meals will be provided.This is a family-friendly event; well-behaved dogs and children are welcome.Reasonable, responsible, and legal alcohol consumption will be allowed. The event is BYOB.Tent or camper space is available. Campers will be asked to respect generator quiet hours from 10pm - 8am.This is a primitive campsite but BHA will be providing porta potties. We will be in grizzly country: please ensure to observe SAFE food storage.Our 2023 Campout is going to be a busy weekend with plenty of optional activities!Friday afternoon/evening folks will arrive, set up camp and mingle.At 9 AM on Saturday well kick things off with an open Chapter Board discussion; all members are welcome.Saturday afternoon will be filled with the return of the Backcountry Olympics! Teams, based on FWP Regions, will be pitted against one other for the chance to take home the coveted Golden Antler trophy! Events will include things like archery shoots (bring your bows!), fire starting (bring your fire starters!), casting accuracy (bring your fishing stuff!), scavenger hunt (bring your backpack and boots!), llama trials (we dont know yet, but theres gonna be llamas!) and more!Dinner will be served around 6pm on Saturday evening, followed by shenanigans and storytelling around the campfire. Make sure to bring a chair!For those who wish to explore the area, there are plenty of fishing and hiking opportunities. Clearwater River and Blackfoot River are great fishing from a boat or shore. Several lakes including Salmon Lake and Upsata Lake are close! Hiking options vary and are not too challenging.Sunday there are no planned activities other than leaving the site better than we found it. The turn is on your left after the gravel pit but before you cross the river or reach Clearwater Crossing Campground. If you cross the river, youve gone too far. From the Flathead area - Take 83 south until you get to the Hwy 200 junction in Clearwater. Turn right and go 1 mile west on 200, past Clearwater Crossing Campground and over the river. The turn is on your right. If you pass the gravel pit, youve gone too far.From Great Falls/East - Stay on Hwy 200 until you pass Clearwater junction. Go 1 mile until you pass Clearwater Crossing Campground and over the right. The turn is on your right. If you pass the gravel pit, youve gone too far.Look for a BHA sign! Well be about a mile up the road on the right.
