Come join the Michigan BHA Chapter with a great conservation project on August 17th from 8am - 4pm and August 18th 8am - 1pm. We have partnered with the USFS in the past, tackling this issue, and are looking to do so again. Help us make our public lands better by removing old cattle fences which impede wildlife movement and hunter and angler access.
We will be camping at Wagner Lake and working just a short distance from the campground. We'll be removing around 1 mile of fence which will certainly enhance this piece of public property! We're excited to folks together for a weekend of stewardship around public lands!
This is a great opportunity to get outdoors, make a difference, get some exercise, and make new friends... or drag along that friend or significant other who is always saying "you never do anything fun/new/ different!" There is physical activity involved, and it requires a few things for safety; a hard hat and safety glasses (if you have them, great, if not we can provide), closed toe shoes/boots, we recommend long sleeves and pants, and gloves. Also this area has a possibility of mosquitoes and ticks, so we recommend pre-treating your clothes with Permethrin, or bringing a bug spray with DEET or Picaridin. And sunscreen is always a good idea. Also a backpack with snacks/lunch and water as we will picnic on site. If you want to make a weekend out of it, there will be others camping (rustic) nearby and you can join them (you must provide your own camping accommodations.
Removing fencing from our public lands is a vital task and we're ready to take on the challenge! We hope to see you there and we can all make a huge impact on our shared lands!
RSVP below so we know you're coming, and we will see ya there!
