Michigan has 3.6 million acres of federal public lands and 4.6 million acres of state-owned public land open for hunting and fishing. We have world-class blue ribbon trout streams, even earning Field & Stream’s designation as the top state for fly-fishing. We have the Great Lakes.

With so much to offer, our state has a lot at stake. Backcountry Hunters & Anglers provides a strong national voice for wild public lands to hunt and clean, healthy and accessible waters to fish. As pressures are increasingly being applied to our public lands and waters, from increased development, commercial activities and even outright hostility to the concept of public lands ownership, BHA’s Michigan members believe that the Michigan chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers can provide critical support for Michigan’s public lands and waters while engaging the Great Lakes State in the national issues at the heart of BHA’s mission.

Keep it public. Keep it wild.
