Are you an adult who’s wanted to learn how to deer hunt? Are you someone that is interested in sourcing your own sustainable protein? Are you someone who loves being outdoors? Or, do you know someone who is interested in learning how to deer hunt? If so, this is the perfect opportunity for you. The Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) and the Michigan Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA) have partnered together to offer a Field to Fork / Hunting for Sustainability mentored deer hunt in Michigan in October of 2019!
BHA’s Hunting for Sustainability addresses the challenge some would-be hunters experience as they attempt to break into the sport, offering novices a hands-on weekend of learning guided by seasoned hunters and other experts. You can find more information on the Hunting for Sustainability program at https://www.backcountryhunters.org/huntingforsustainability
Field to Fork is a food-focused hunter recruitment program for adults from non-hunting backgrounds. Participants in the program will learn how to hunt and acquire a wild, healthy, local, sustainable source of food on their own. You can find more information on the Field to Fork Program at www.qdma.com/recruit/field-to-fork/.
If this sounds like something you or someone you know would like to participate in, please fill out this application. We will be accepting 6-8 individuals to go through the program this year. There will be a fee of $30 for the final participants
We are also putting together a list of experienced hunters who would like to volunteer as a mentor to a new hunter. Please contact Jason Meekhof at [email protected] or Josh Hillyard at [email protected] if you are interested in becoming a mentor.
