No longer financially valuable to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in Washington, several parcels of winter habitat are being considered in DNR Land Bank Exchange. Fortunately, there are several other options for transferring land that would keep the parcels in public ownership, and in January, the Washington Chapter of BHA sent a letter urging the DNR to do so. While these lands may no longer be financially valuable to the DNR, at BHA we know that their value to wildlife and to access and opportunity are worth protecting.
