Take Action - Atlantic Striped Bass Addendum II

In late January the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) will convene for their winter meeting, where they’re expected to finalize Draft Addendum II to Amendment 7 to the Interstate Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for Atlantic Striped Bass. When ASMFC’s Striped Bass Management Board approved Draft Addendum II for public comment last October their state goal was to “build upon the 2023 emergency action by considering management measures intended to reduce fishing mortality to ...

Last May the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) initiated the development of Addendum II to Amendment 7 to the Interstate Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for Atlantic Striped Bass. Rhode Island BHA Calls for Denial of Aquaculture Proposal

If allowed, an oyster farm in Sapowet Cove would become the closest that CRMC has EVER allowed an aquaculture development to be permitted to any existing state public-access feature. Over two years ago Rhode Island BHA submitted testimony to Rhode Island’s Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) detailing our concerns with Application 2020-04-037, which seeks to establish an oyster farm in wading-depth water adjacent to Tiverton’s Sapowet Marsh Wildlife Management Area. This Tuesday, ...

RI Fishing Access at Risk in RIDOT Bridge Proposal

This Tuesday, October 24th, RI’s Coastal Resources Management Council will meet to consider Application 2023-04-094, in which RI’s Department of Transportation outlines plans to rebuild the bike path bridges that span the Barrington and Warren (Palmer) Rivers. MA BHA Opposes ‘Act Modernizing Firearms Laws’

Earlier this year Massachusetts Representative Michael Day (D-Middlesex) introduced HD4420 – An Act to Modernize Firearm Laws. This piece of legislation, which was both complicated and extensive, sought to overhaul firearm laws in the commonwealth in a variety of ways. While HD4420 has been stagnant for the last several months and has yet to receive a public hearing, last Wednesday, October 4, Rep. Day introduced a new, similarly complicated and extensive firearm bill – HD4607 – also called ...
