The Armed Forces Initiative is the BHA program focused on creating conservationists within the military community. Our stewardship events are designed to support the local public lands we all enjoy and recreate on.
This event will combine a one-day grouse hunt along with a clean-up of the hunt area. AFI and local mentors will partner with attendees and lead them on a dog powered bird hunt. Each group will pack out litter and improve the quality of these lands. During lunch a representative from Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (IFAW) will speak about Maine's implied access laws. This is a great opportunity to both hunt and be a good steward of publicly accessible private lands in the famous "High Peaks" region of Maine.
Saturday, October 26th, 2024 starting at 8:00 a.m. through the end of legal shooting light.
Groups will meet at the Coos Canyon Rest Area along the Swift River in Byron, ME.
1 Byron Village Rd, Byron ME 04275
Who can attend:
- This event is open to all members of the military community
