North Dakota Backcountry Hunters and Anglers has partnered with the USFS to update the Whitetail picnic area to accommodate camping during the fall hunting seasons. NDBHA will plan on arriving Friday evening(July 19th) and working all day Saturday and through midday on Sunday. Volunteers can show up for any day(s) they are able, just bring your work clothes, gloves, and camping stuff. It’s a primitive campground with a vault toilet on site, fire rings, and picnic tables. There’s an open grass lot that can accommodate campers but remember there’s no electricity on site. Please RSVP if you plan to attend.
Some of the projects we will be working on are:
-Regraveling the parking area.
-Reshingling and staining the information kiosk
-Moving, setting up, and painting Picnic tables
We’re also looking for feedback on what you’d like to see at a campground that caters to fall Hunters. Got an idea on how to make camp life easier while hunting in the badlands let us know? Some ideas we are already kicking around is to add a buck pole, game cleaning area, and a dumpster. What are your thoughts? [email protected]
