Join us for a Kansas River Cleanup along the banks of the Kansas River in downtown Lawrence in celebration of Public Lands Month! We are partnering with Friends of the Kaw to clean up our public lands! Do you know that the Kansas River is public property between the high water mark? The sandbars are public land! We'll meet at 7th and New York parking lot below Springhill Suites (head north towards the river) in Lawrence and spread out from there. We will provide trash & recycling bags, water and snacks - BYOWB (bring your own water bottle)! Please bring a MASK and wear it when you can't maintain 6 ft. of social distance. Please bring work gloves if you have them & wear sturdy shoes and long sleeves/pants.
PLEASE NOTE: We will be working very close to the Kansas River and could encounter dangerous terrain. Litter collected will include rusted metal and other dangerous items. This event is not recommended for very young children. All children will need to be closely supervised the entire time by the adult(s) that bring them. Walton's Inc and SMH Consulting have each agreed to donate $5 per bag of trash to Kansas BHA! First Lite will be donating $5 per bag to BHA as well. Each bag of trash we pick up is $15 for BHA and a win for our Public Lands!
