Keep Cook Recreation Area Public

In November of 2020, the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) proposed the possibility of a long-term lease of the Cook Recreation Area on Percy Priest Lake.  In their proposal, the USACE listed three options for the future use of Cook Recreation Area:

  1. Lease the entire area to a private partner
  2. Lease the entire area with restrictions
  3. Keep the public use area under Corps operations and management.

The proposed lease would include all 220 acres of the Cook Recreation area as well as 25 acres of water.

The Tennessee Chapter believes that Percy Priest WMA and the USACE Recreation Areas provide an oasis from the bustling City of Nashville.   Our position is that Cook Recreation Area should remain under USACE operations and management, and we oppose any lease or development that would impair current public access or further develop the shoreline of Percy Priest Lake.

Please take a moment to sign the petition to keep Cook Recreation Area public and support option 3 which would keep the public use area under Corps operations and management.
