Help Us Protect Sandia Mountain Archery Hunts!
NMDGF Conservation Officers and local hunters and BHA members will be hosting a public outreach event in the Sandia Mountains, Sunday, January 1, 2023 from 8 am - 12 pm. This is opening day of the Unit 8 bowhunt. This event is intended to share hunt information with the public in highly trafficked areas at the foothill trailheads to keep both hunters and recreationists as safe as possible in their outdoor activities.
We are seeking knowledgeable and friendly hunters to work alongside NMDGF conservation officers and share information and answer questions for trail users. Our efforts will be concentrated at the Pino/Elena Gallegos, Bear Canyon and Embudo trailheads in the Sandia foothills where a majority of the hunter/public interaction occurs.
Please RSVP on this page no later than Wednesday, December 28 to participate. NM BHA Secretary and event leader Brian Mileshosky will reach out after you RSVP to coordinate shifts and trailhead assignments. Kids are welcome to participate, although it will likely be chilly in the morning.
