The new issue of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers’ magazine, featuring access-related coverage, is available now

MISSOULA, Mont. – The Access Issue, a special edition of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers’ quarterly magazine, Backcountry Journal, is arriving in mailboxes across North America. Here are some of the highlights of an issue that explores the critical link between healthy habitat and our ability to hunt and fish.

Defending Access and Opportunity in Congress: U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich shares his story of last season’s elk hunt and outlines the access policy challenges currently being tackled by leaders in Congress – and how BHA members can play a crucial role in the success of their efforts.

Corners in the Crosshairs: Wyoming BHA member and legislative lobbyist Sabrina King takes a deep dive into the legal battles over corner crossing in the Cowboy State, detailing the recent fights, critical wins, and insights on the potential ramifications for our ability to legally access public lands across North America.

BHA Chapter Access Wins: BHA chapters across North America are on the front lines in the battles for access to our public lands and waters. In this issue, we look at work being done by BHA’s Colorado chapter in the fight for public water access and how BHA Alberta is taking a unique approach to ensure access to public lands – through public lands.

The Artist’s Son: Renowned writer Stephen Bodio relives his childhood hunting and fishing in the Northeast…and his complicated relationship with his father. There’s more than one way to define access.

Still at Work: BHA Montana Chapter Board Member Aaron Agosto relates how conservation and access easements, beginning with timber companies and preserved by new landowners, resulted in his first bow elk…and the promise of many more memories in the future.

And there’s more to inspire you to fight the good fight: Those stories and plenty more in the first-ever special access issue of Backcountry Journal.

Backcountry Journal is distributed to BHA members, elected officials and land management agencies. It also is available in a digital flipbook edition, available to members on the BHA website. Join BHA today to get your copy.
