There are many ways to backpack hunt and there are just as many ways to pack for it. In Connor Gabbot's experience, the best way to learn how to pack for these hunts or how to adjust your current gear is to see what others are doing and get a chance to see different gear in a hands-on environment. Plus you get to ask questions and offer your own perspective.
This is an open forum to discuss gear, Connor just happens to be the guy standing up there with his gear explosion for everyone to see. We're encouraging everyone to bring in their packs and favourite pieces of gear for a show and tell. Rookie and seasoned hunters this is your chance to try on gear before you break the bank.
Connor has a couple things up his sleeve but he doesn't want to give it all away just yet, but you will learn:
- What sort of gear is out there
- What to look for in a pack
- How to pack it properly
His mantra on good gear? Buy once, cry once? Only pack what you need? Ounces make pounds and pounds make pain? He claims to not have one but if pressured to say it would be, "only pack what you need."
We all do gear different so you are guaranteed to see something new!
We will be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win Leupold Binoculars (BX-2 Tioga HD 10x42mm) to raise funds for the BC chapter of the BHA.
