The workday will begin at 8am on September 27, 2024, and will focus on restoring natural wood vegetation into Clear Shade Creek.
The work will consist of physically moving felled trees and brush into the stream. The improvement project will restore a natural density of woody materials to the stream, increasing in-stream cover, developing more and deeper pools, and encourage a more frequent floodplain-channel interactions. This work enhances the natural habitat of not only fish, but many native species.
Folks should dress for the weather, including wading or knee-high muck boots, and be prepared for periods of significant physical labor, hiking over rough/uneven terrain, and carrying loads of approximately 50lbs while utilizing a series of hand tools.
All personal protection equipment will be provided, but individuals are welcome to bring a personal hardhat and or gloves if desired.
We will meet at the Fisherman’s Path Trail head on Shade Road not far from the intersection of Shade Road and Clear Shade Drive (Route 56). See pin on Google Maps link for exact parking / meeting spot.
