The work will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and will consist of physically moving felled trees and brush into the stream. The improvement project will restore a natural density of woody materials to the stream, increase in-stream cover, develop more and deeper pools, and encourage more frequent floodplain-channel interactions. This type of natural habitat enhancement benefits not only fish, but many native species of plants and animals.
What to Expect: Participants should dress for the weather, including wading or knee-high muck boots, and be prepared for periods of significant physical labor, hiking over rough/uneven terrain, and carrying loads of approximately 50 pounds while utilizing hand tools or moving tree material.
A WPC Video explaining the how and why of the the work that will be completed can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kx0iUGzchbU
