Are you looking for an opportunity to get your boots on the ground to benefit wildlife? Join fellow BHA members and CPW staff on Saturday, January 19th, and help us repair a wildlife guzzler (water catchment and reservoir).
We will be meeting at Me Oh My Coffee and Pie at 7:30am. From there, volunteers can carpool up together. The work location is 17 miles west of highway 287 on County Road 80C. (My Oh My opens at 7am if you want to grab coffee and/or breakfast before heading up).
If you get lost or are running late please contact David Neils (970-481-9795) or Kylie Schumacher (309-287-1810).
We will be helping CPW repair a wildlife guzzler. The bottom edge of the roof should be hanging over the guzzler installed in the ground. Whoever installed it cobbled together a drain spout on a rain gutter which is all beaten up. That needs to be removed and the roof extended over the guzzler (see photos on next page). If we finish the guzzler early we will help CPW map areas along a fence line that need repair for a future project. Please wear field/hiking clothes and hiking boots. Check the weather before heading out and make sure you have sufficient layers if necessary. Hike in is about an hour from the parking lot, but is easy as you’ll be walking a road a majority of the way.
Please bring a backpack with the following:
