event_description: For this Hike to Hunt and Fish adventure, well be ice fishing on Joe Wright Reservoir for grayling. The carpool meets at 5 am on Saturday, March 16 at the Shell gas station located at 92 CO-14, where Canyon Road meets Hwy 287 in Laporte. Be sure and bring lots of warm cloths, as it may be brutally cold and windy. The fishing is similar to trout with small jigs and bait or small swedish pimples/castmasters. We will provide bait, ice augers and tackle. Although you are encouraged to bring your own. You will need to provide your own rods and reels. This fishing is not difficult (unless its windy, which it very well may be), but you do need to have basic fishing skills: tying on your jigs, baiting your own hook, dealing with your own line tangles, etc. After a morning of fishing for grayling at Joe Wright, well head back down to Fort Collins for a pint and bite, and should be done no later than 5 pm, but probably earlier than that. This event is subject to cancellation due to weather conditions. Please be sure to check that the event is still a go before leaving for the carpool. A notice will be sent by email if plans change, and a note posted in the comments to this event.
