event_description: Join Montana BHA and the National Wildlife Federation for a boots-on-the-ground stewardship project to help remove 2.5 miles of fencing on private/BLM boundary in a critical pronghorn migration corridor in the Grasshopper Valley near Dillon, Montana.Volunteers should expect to work from 7:30am to 4pm on Saturday, June 8th, and 7:30am to noon on Sunday, June 9th. BHA will provide dinner for volunteers on Saturday night. Attendees should bring work clothes, boots, camping gear, daypack, water, breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Volunteers can camp nearby at Bannack State Park or Grasshopper Campground Friday and Saturday night. Exact meeting time, location, and what to bring will be provided to RSVPs at least one week prior to the project date. This project is located in Montana’s Big Game Priority Area C, a region designated by Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks (MFWP) as part of Secretarial Order 3362 as a priority for big game habitat conservation, due to the diversity, abundance, and threats to big game populations in the area. Specifically, the project will occur south of Hwy 278, 24 miles west of Dillon and 12 miles south of Polaris, along the route pronghorn take while traveling between wintering areas in Horse Prairie and summer range in the Big Hole Valley. Furthermore, this area serves as seasonal range for elk, mule deer, and moose.Volunteers will receive a free dehydrated meal from our state-based corporate partner, Gastro Gnome.Due to the nature of the work, children and dogs are not allowed.*Please only RSVP if you are serious about attending. RSVP numbers help us prepare appropriate meals, tools, and work and no-shows cost us valuable time and effort. However, we understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, so we ask that you update your RSVP accordingly.
