The Gould’s is the largest subspecies of wild turkey, home only in the Sky Islands region where Mexico, New Mexico and Arizona meet. On Thursday, July 23, join us for a virtual event with guest speakers Scott Lerich and Jim Bates.
Scott P Lerich is a Certified Wildlife Biologist who has worked in the Southwestern US for over 25 years. Scott spent 15 years as District Biologist for the National Wild Turkey Federation working across Arizona and New Mexico, with a special focus on habitat enhancement projects and restoration of Gould’s wild turkeys across their US range. Jim Bates is a Las Cruces turkey hunter extraordinaire who holds the world record for a Gould’s turkey he shot in Mexico. Scott will talk about the biology of this big bird, the process of getting it delisted, and perhaps some thoughts on when we might see a few Gould’s tags in the big game draw. We’ll have more information coming, but if you’re a turkey hunter, RSVP now so you don’t miss this special evening.
There are only 100 spots available for this call so please RSVP right away to reserve your spot! You will be provided with Zoom meeting information and a Zoom user guide in a confirmation email once you RSVP.
