This year, the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point BHA club is partnering with the Wisconsin Sharp-tailed Grouse Society and a portion of the proceeds will go directly towards on-the-ground work of WSGS to improve sharp-tailed habitat in Wisconsin. Funds will also support the UWSP BHA club and BHA Collegiate Program.Born of public land advocacy and an abiding appreciation for a rare and beautiful landscape, the Wisconsin Sharp-tailed Grouse Society started in 1990 by a group of sportsmen, conservationists, and citizens interested in the preservation of sharp-tailed grouse and their habitat in Wisconsin. The sharptail is a flagship species of Wisconsin oak and pine barrens, savannas, sedge meadows, and bog habitats. WSGS is Wisconsins only organization protecting and conserving this unique, native upland bird and its home.UWSP BHA has been working equally hard for your public lands and waters, wildlife habitat, and fair chase. In the past year, they have:Hosted a learn-to-hunt turkey workshop this spring for brand new hunters at the Lions Club in Rosholt, WI. UWSP BHA is a third-year grantee for BHAs Public Land Owner Stewardship Fund which grants clubs $500 for public land, water, and wildlife stewardship projects.UWSP BHA is the most recent winner of the G.O.A.T., a title earned by out-competing all other BHA clubs by earning points for everything they do such as outreach, meetings, and events.Event is family-friendly and all ages are welcome.
