September is Public Lands Month and in celebration, BHA members across North America will be participating in our Public Land Pack Out, a chapter-to-chapter competition aimed at ridding our shared lands and waters of more than 1,000 bags of garbage.
Fort Bragg AFI Club members and friends will meet September 4th at McKellars Lodge parking lot to clean up along McKellars pond, Manchester Road, and MacArthur and Holland Lakes. We will meet at the parking lot at 9:30 a.m. and split up to cover as much ground as possible. For those that want to come but don’t have post access there will be a second group located at FOB Patriot of MacRidge road to link up at 9:45. This will be our consolidation point as there is a large dumpster there near the dump at the end of the packout. We will then migrate out to Southern Pines Growler Company to cool off with a cold beverage of your choice!
This area of the post was selected as it is popular for both hunters and anglers and has seen heavy use this summer by all outdoor user groups.
We will also host a second event in late September which will be followed by a pint night so stay tuned for more if you can’t make it out now.
Please bring a mask, boots, gloves, trashbags, a backpack, your favorite BHA hat.
Please RSVP below so we know how many people to expect.
We will be taking special precautions at this event to follow coronavirus regulations and guidelines, including:
Even if you cannot attend this or another Public Land Pack Out Event, you can still support this effort. Our friends at First Lite have generously offered to donate $5 to BHA for every bag of trash packed out, up to $5,000 during the month of September. First Lite also will be giving away 20 gift cards valued at $100 each to the top 20 public land trash packers. Additionally, 10 gift cards will be given away throughout the month to those who share a photo of the Public Land Pack Out on Instagram or Facebook with the hashtag #publiclandpackout and #publiclandowner
Grab some garbage bags and help us leave your public lands a little better than you found them, then post your results for a chance to win!
