Hello BHA Members!
We hope all is well with you and yours during these uncertain times. We are feeling it especially hard considering we have not been able to do a lot of face to face engagement with our members these last few months.
But now we have an opportunity to get together and do some good! The Southeast CO group, based out of Colorado Springs, has been asked to support the USFS & BLM on some fence removal projects and we need volunteers! This work is quite labor intensive but very impactful.
A recent study on the CO & WY border found that non-maintained and non-wildlife friendly fences accounted for 100 entangled big game carcasses per mile in the area they surveyed.
If you are interested, both projects will be in Chaffee County. The first work day will be September 26 - National Public Lands Day and looking at something for October with a date TBD. We expect that the work will take all day. Understanding both of these dates conflict with our favorite time of the year, we are asking that you consider giving up one day of your season and attend in support of wildlife conservation!
Being that the precautions for COVID-19 are changing in the hour of every day, both projects are subject to cancellation with a short notice. We are also requiring all volunteers to bring their own PPE (face covering, gloves, hat, sunscreen, eye protection, water, pants and shirt) and do not carpool.
We appreciate your continued support of BHA and our Public Lands!
All Our Best,
