event_description: Arizona Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is teaming up with the Arizona Wildlife Federation to bring you the 2022 annual Family Squirrel Camp! Whether you’re a novice or an experienced hunter, join us for this family friendly and fun camp and learn all about Arizona’s huntable squirrel species, get hunting tips and techniques, and even processing and cooking tips. Most importantly, get out and enjoy hunting squirrels in the beautiful ponderosa pine forests of Arizona’s Coconino National Forest.We will have a very small number of mentors (5) available to take out new hunters if needed. If you are interested in mentorship please email event lead Michael Cravens with your request no later than Friday, September 23.  Participants are limited to 30 so don’t wait to RSVP!Date & Time: Participants will be arriving to camp at noon on Friday and a hunt will take place Saturday and Sunday. Bring a shareable dish for a Saturday wild game potluck if youd like!Camp Location: 34.95904, -111.54565, Come prepared for camping in a primitive setting with no amenities (water, shelter, etc.) available. Directions: From Flagstaff, take Lake Mary Road approx. 20 miles. Turn right onto Mormon Lake Road and travel 4.8 miles. Turn right onto Forest Service Road 240 and travel 2.2 miles. Slight right onto Forest Service Road 132A, travel 2 miles, and look for the signs and camp on the left.Gear Tips: You might want to consider bringing a 22LR or shotgun, cooler and ice for taking meat home, knife or kitchen shears, and binoculars.
