Thank you for the opportunity to comment on your ‘Manage Elk Where They Are Not’ proposal.
There’s a lot to unpack here and the Department’s responses point to many ‘not legal’ or ‘not feasible’ reactions to these proposals. For this reason, Montana BHA will not address those.
As FWP noted in their response, our main concern with elk management in NW Montana is the habitat. We have and continue to encourage FWP and other land management agencies to invest more in habitat improvements, prescribed burning, thinning projects and more.
