Join the Minnesota Chapter of BHA on National Public Lands Day weekend to get your hands dirty, and give back to our wild places, and then reap the rewards by hunting and fishing those same lands with fellow public land owners!
We will be partnering with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) to build houses for wood ducks and installing them the same afternoon. The wood duck houses will provide critical nesting habitat for wood ducks and other cavity nesting birds. This will also double as your opportunity to scout for Saturday morning hunting. While the wood duck houses will be the priority, there may also be need for invasive species and pollinator project work as well.
Following the Friday work day, join fellow BHAers on the water to hunt waterfowl and enjoy National Public Lands Day on our shared wild lands! If you prefer fishing, area lakes offer great fall fishing instead.
*Watercraft will be provided for the work day, but those with watercraft for hunting are especially encouraged to join.
**Please bring gloves, waders, a water bottle if you have them. Tools, bug repellent, lunch and drinks on Friday will be provided by USACE.
Free Camping is available Thursday (9/26)- Sunday (9/29) to volunteers who register for this event.
*We are only in need of 8-10 Volunteers to assist in this project. Please RSVP by Sept. 1st.
**RSVP and Waiver MUST be completed to register and attend. Valid licenses required to hunt and/or fish.
