Draw Tag Results Day and Night: February 21st, 2025.

AWP Draw Tag Results Party Moose Call Winners.

On the evening of February 21, over 100 Alaskans: hunters, anglers and trappers from all over Southcentral Alaska, gathered at Double Shovel Cider Company’s taproom for the Alaska Wild Project’s Second Annual Draw Results Party. Hosted in partnership with Double-Shovel, Alaska Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, and the Alaska Wild Sheep Foundation, the event had no shortage of fun and camaraderie.

We all discussed the tags we hoped to draw but didn’t, as well as our plans for if we finally did draw that elusive sheep or bison tag, and we congratulated the chosen few who drew a coveted tag, all while sipping excellent ciders, including the Governor’s Reserve, limited batch brewed by Double Shovel exclusively for BHA and this event!

AK BHA had two awesome raffles, selling tickets for a Weatherby Mark V Hunter chambered in 6.5 RPM and a prize package that included a Gerber Hatchet, Mystery Ranch bino harness, and bear spray holster. BHA Alaska continues to sell tickets for two Governor’s tags, the sole Copper River Bison tag and another for a Chugach Mountain Brown Bear tag, which were also available via QR code at the event.

Alaska BHA offered incentives to new members, including a free one-year subscription to OnX for anyone who signed up for BHA membership at the event. The Wild Sheep Foundation continues to offer entries to their various raffles via QR code, with potential prizes ranging from gear packages to a dream hunt in Africa or New Zealand! Winners will be selected at their annual banquet on April 11th and 12th at the Dena’ina Center in Anchorage.

The highlight of the night was the events. There were over 40 participants in the AWP Alaska hunting and wildlife knowledge trivia contest willing to test their knowledge of Alaskan big game facts and stats, with the winner, taking home a prize package that included an AWP tote with Yeti coozies and The Mayor’s salsa! A BHA life member took first place! Over 30 contestants participated in the moose-calling contest following trivia.

Callers ranged in experience from those who had never hunted moose before to those who were “certified dirt-nap dealers.” At the end two winners were selected taking home one prize package which included a Yeti cooler or Sagebrush Dry Gear waterproof soft gun case, a Yeti can coozie, an Alaskan Wild Sheep Foundation beanie, and a four-pack of the Double-Shovel cider of their choosing.  Two BHA Members also swept this contest, including our AK BHA Kenai Representative.

Alaska BHA expresses a huge thank you to everyone who showed up, participated, organized, and made this event happen – Special thanks for the Alaska Wild Project! Another huge thank you to Double Shovel Cider Company for their Governor’s Reserve Cider batch and hosting with their space. It was great tabling with Alaska Wild Sheep Foundation as well.

Let’s all continue to work together to celebrate and protect public lands and opportunities, keep wild sheep on the mountain, and educate and entertain the public on hunting and angling issues around the state and country!
