CWD Research and Management Act

Chronic wasting disease represents one of the greatest threats to wild deer and other cervids in Michigan and the rest of the US. This is also a threat to the quality of our hunting opportunities.

The Michigan Chapter has recently started a Take Action for Michigan residents to help entice Senator Stabenow (D-MI) to push for the hearing to advance S.4111, the Chronic Wasting Disease Research and Management Act. Senator Stabenow is the Chairwoman of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee which has jurisdiction over this legislation, which has already passed the House of Representatives last December led by Reps Ron Kind (D-WI) and Glen Thompson (R-PA).

If you are a Michigan resident, please click on the link below to take action. If you have friends and/or family in Michigan please send them this information so that they can submit their response.

The Michigan Chapter along with the BHA Policy Team has also written and submitted a letter to Senator Stabenow expressing the urgency of S. 4111. The sooner this bill is passed, the sooner we may have great methods to help mitigate the impact of CWD.

TAKE ACTION

Thank you for your time and all you do for conservation!
