Please join the Idaho Chapter for a work weekend at Craig Mountain WMA near Lewiston, Idaho! Members from all over the state will assemble to help with with habitat improvements under the direction of IDFG. We will specifically be working around the Bitten Meadows area on conifer seedling removal and riparian shrub plantings. You won't want to miss this chance to get your boots muddy in the name of conservation, so RSVP now!
The work weekend will include a Friday night welcome bonfire and BHA provided breakfast on Saturday and a BHA community dinner (BHA provides the meat) on Saturday night. Schedule and Logistics
Friday- Arrive at Benton Meadows anytime after 6:30 PM. Directions to Benton Meadows from Lewiston.
Saturday- Breakfast provided by BHA
Volunteers will assist IDFG with conifer encroachment and riparian shrub planting
6:00 PM- Dinner- Meat and a side will be provided by BHA. Please bring a side or dessert to share.
Sunday- Clean up and depart
Camping/Lodging: Space for camping is available at Benton Meadows.
Food and Drink: Dinner is on your own Friday evening. Breakfast will be provided on Saturday. Bring a sack lunch. BHA will provide meat and sides for dinner. Please bring a side dish or dessert if possible. Bring your own beverages. There will be potable water on site. Alcoholic beverages are allowed on site after work hours.
Gear/Attire: Bring appropriate work wear, waterproof rubber boots and gloves.
Kids: Kids are welcome and encouraged to help. No childcare will be provided by BHA.
Dogs: Please leave dogs at home unless you plan to have someone stay at the camp to watch them.
The Idaho chapter of BHA has enjoyed a long relationship with the Idaho Dept. of Fish and Game, particularly on Craig Mountain Wildlife Management Area. Over the years Idaho BHA has partnered with IDFG several times to remove fencing, conduct riparian planting, construct beaver dam analogs and rebuild a backcountry cabin on the WMA.
