Join Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation, 2% for Conservation, and Wyoming BHA on Saturday August 21st to help remove unneeded barbed wire fencing in the Bridger Teton National Forest above Goosewing Creek in the Gros Ventre. This scenic area in the Gros Ventre Wilderness is important habitat for diverse species including elk, moose, mule deer, pronghorn antelope, wolves, and grizzlies. It is also part of the 100 mile long Path of the Pronghorn Migration route from the Jackson Hole Valley to Pinedale WY.
The fencing is located on a steep slope above the Goosewing River approximately 1.5 miles from the trailhead. The trail includes two shallow stream crossings. Waterproof boots and/or sandals for creek crossings and trekking poles are recommended.
Participants will meet at 7:30AM at the Home Ranch Parking Lot on the corner of N. Cache St and E. Gill Ave in downtown Jackson and caravan out to the project site up the Gros Ventre.
Provided Equipment: Gloves, fencing tools, extra water, snacks. Please bring lunch, water, a backpack and personal equipment for a day in the field!
