event_description: Join BHA in conjunction with Tumbling Trout Fly Shop and the Pike’s Peak Chapter of Trout Unlimited for an entire day dedicated to trout, Colorado’s fisheries, the sport of fly fishing, and strengthening our community of sportswomen. This is a womens only event.In our “Colorado Fly Girls” course, you will get to tour Colorado’s only fish hatchery that’s dedicated to both warm and cold water fish. You’ll get to see, first-hand, the development of rainbow trout and brown trout from eggs to a catchable size of 10-11”. Colorado Parks and Wildlife staff will be on hand to discuss licensing and how the 90 million fish that are stocked each year in Colorado support angling opportunities and native species recovery efforts.You’ll learn about entomology (bugs that fish eat), proper fish handling and, of course, how to cast a fly rod.For the second half of the day, you’ll get to employ the knowledge and the skills that you’ve learned as we take to the water to catch your first trout!There’s no experience or special equipment necessary, just a desire to learn about fly fishing in our beautiful state of Colorado.
