Colorado Backcountry Hunters & Anglers Appoint Jason Judge To Southeast Group Assistant Regional Director Position

The Colorado chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA) appointed Jason Judge to serve as an Assistant Regional Director for the Southeast Group/region.

Jason started hunting and fishing in Minnesota when he was a child. “My mentors included my dad, uncles, and family friends,” he said. “The fall months were spent chasing whitetails and waterfowl, and we fished in the summers and winters.  Now I hunt and fish in Colorado and the surrounding states. I hunt deer, elk, turkey, and occasionally grouse and antelope. I love chasing pheasants behind my black lab, and I also volunteer with CPW as much as I can.”

Jason served in the U.S. Air Force and Space Force (2002-2023) and moved to Colorado Springs in 2012. He was also stationed in California, Montana, and Florida. “My military career gave me the opportunity to try everything from mule deer hunting to saltwater fishing,” he explained. “I spent a lot of time on public lands and waters. I feel very fortunate to live in a country where we have this opportunity, and we need to protect it.”

“I became a member of BHA a few years ago,” Jason added. “I’m excited to be a chapter leader so I can take a more active role in protecting public land and water. The BHA events I’ve participated in have made big impacts and I had a lot of fun doing it,” he emphasized. “I’m
excited to help plan, organize, and execute BHA events and priorities.”

Jason says he has seen BHA’s Armed Forces Initiative (AFI) program in action and knows the massive benefits of the program. “The military community is very strong in Colorado, and BHA provides us opportunities to get involved in conservation on a local level,” he said.
