The Colorado chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA) recently appointed Cade Kloberdanz to serve as an Assistant Regional Director for the Northwest Group/region.
Cade has been fly-fishing for over 30 years and it’s one of his main passions. He majored in journalism in college and has a knack for writing and public speaking. “I’m new to hunting and only started in 2024, but it’s become just as big of a passion for me as fly-fishing is,” he explained. Cade also served in the U.S. Navy from 2001-2011.
“This is my first year with BHA,” Cade added. “I’ve always been conservation-minded and have volunteered with Trout Unlimited, including serving a term as chapter president of Grand Valley Anglers here in Grand Junction. After taking a year off following my term as president, I decided I would like to get involved again with conservation. Since I started hunting this year, it made sense to join BHA and see what opportunities there might be for me to help.”
Cade almost exclusively hunts and fishes on public lands and waters. “I spend almost every weekend utilizing our public lands in one form or another,” he emphasized. “I would love to see more programming and events in Western Colorado. I have the time to help more of both come to fruition in 2025 and beyond.”
“Cade’s impressive conservation background, including his Trout Unlimited leadership and passion for both fishing and hunting, make him a great addition to the Group,” Regional Director Brett Jones said. “His commitment to public lands conservation perfectly aligns with BHA’s goals.”

Founded by Mike Beagle, a former U.S. Army field artillery officer, and formed around an Oregon campfire, in 2004, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is the voice for our nation’s wild public lands, waters and wildlife.[1] With members spread out across all 50 states and 13 Canadian provinces and territories—including chapters in 49 states, two Canadian provinces and one territory, and Washington, D.C.—BHA brings an authentic, informed, boots-on-the-ground voice to the conservation of public lands. The Colorado BHA chapter was founded by David “Elkheart” Petersen (a former U.S. Marine Corps helicopter pilot) in 2005 (the first official BHA chapter)[2]
