Join Chicago BHA members to discuss the hottest public land access issue in Illinois with guest speaker from the Illinois Environmental Council.
Paddling access to Illinois rivers is under threat, come learn about the issue and voice your support for open waters. First round is on us.
This event is brought to you as a part of the Muddy Waters Tour. The Muddy Waters Tour is a compilation of several opportunities and events across Illinois designed to increase awareness, education, and involvement in conservation in Illinois waterways. Widely misunderstood, the ability to float water in Illinois is not as clear as it may seem. Federal law granting the public access to navigable waterways is contradicted by Illinois law and your access to one of our most crucial natural resources is limited. An estimated 2% of moving water is publicly accessible under Illinois state law, even though much more is considered public under federal law, leaving uncertainty in the conservation of our true wild places.
This event is sponsored by OnX Hunt and Trout Routes, which together make up the most comprehensive land and moving water digital mapping system in the country. Anyone that signs up, renews, or gifts a membership at this event will receive a 1-year Premium Membership subscription to OnX Hunt AND a 1-Year Membership to TroutRoutes PRO.
