Join CA BHA in our annual Turkey Camp! We will be camping on Friday and Saturday nights just outside the newly expanded Berryessa National Monument, and will have plenty of space for anyone to join. The campout will include a basic Turkey Hunting 101 by CA BHA chapter leadership and some folks from National Wild Turkey Foundation on Friday night, and may include a presentation by CDFW officers on Friday afternoon. We encourage everyone to go afield Sat & Sun to hopefully bag a gobbler.
THIS IS A FREE EVENT! HOWEVER, YOU MUST RESERVE YOUR SPACE BY PURCHASING A $35 TICKET WHICH WILL BE REFUNDED TO YOU WHEN YOU SHOW UP TO THE EVENT.
Required Equipment:
- 2024-2025 Hunting License
- Upland Bird Stamp
- Solid boots & hiking equipment
- Gun and shot. Recommended turkey shot. Non-lead only
Suggested Equipment:
- Tent
- Sleeping bag
- Appropriate turkey hunting attire (camouflage, face covering, gloves, etc)
- Rain coat
- Cooler
- Water Sunscreen
As we California Chapter board members will bring a grill and some grub, EZ up, spare tent or two, firepit, a few loaner turkey call boxes, and camp essentials.
Important Reminders:
- This is not a guided hunt. We will be sharing advice and experiences, but this is in no way a guided hunt, and success is not guaranteed.
- You are responsible for your own safety and compliance with the law.
- Spring turkeys must be bearded
- Pigs (with appropriate tags), coyotes, and jackrabbits are also in season. For turkeys, you shouldn't need a shot size larger than #2.
