event_description: Biologists from the California Department of Fish & Wildlife will be conducting bighorn sheep surveys in the Marble and South Soda Mountains on June 3rd and 4th, and they are looking for volunteer support to help glass and count the population.Volunteers will be able to glass from vehicles or will be going on short hikes to help improve the accuracy of the survey.Conditions could be extremely hot, so be sure to bring plenty of water, appropriate clothing/sun protection. Camping will be primitive so come prepared. We encourage participants to bring more than a gallon of water per day and consider bringing something to share for a wild game potluck.Due to limited space and to ensure an accurate headcount, we will be requiring participants to put a small deposit down to reserve their space. THIS IS A FREE EVENT. The deposit will be refunded upon request for those that attend. If you need to cancel your reservation, you must do so within 7 days of the event to ensure we can give the space to someone on the waitlist. Dont forget your binoculars, spotting scopes and tripods!If you are curious about the location, check out this video from last years survey in the Marble Mountains.
