BHA's Giving Tuesday Toolkit

Giving Tuesday is an amazing opportunity for nonprofits like Backcountry Hunters & Anglers – in BHA's case, to make sure we are doing all we can in support of our wild public lands, waters and wildlife.

This Giving Tuesday, we're asking our supporters to help us continue fighting for our public lands and waters, sustaining and expanding access opportunities across North America, and preventing our wildlife from becoming a commodity.

Today, we're asking that you help us by putting out a call to action and asking your friends and family to join us at BHA by donating on the website or using some powerful social media tools to force multiply your generous giving!

Here's how to do it:

Create a nonprofit fundraiser on Facebook

  • On your computer, log in to Facebook.
  • On the left, click Fundraisers.
    • Tip: If you don't see Fundraisers on the left, then click See more.
  • On the left, click Raise money.
  • Click Nonprofit.
  • You can either:
    • Scroll to find Backcountry Hunters & Anglers
    • Type into the search bar to find Backcountry Hunters & Anglers
  • Select us.
  • On the left, enter:
    • The goal amount of money you want to raise
    • The currency you want the funds to be in
    • Label your fundraiser as: "Giving Tuesday with BHA"
  • Click Create.

You’ll see a screen pop up where you can invite your social media cohort to donate to your fundraiser, share your fundraiser in your news feed, or donate to the fundraiser yourself.

Share Your Story

Our public lands and waters are crucial parts of the stories we tell at BHA - and the stories we share with others, too. Telling your story is a great way to successfully fundraise when others can understand the emotional importance a landscape, an animal or an experience provides. BHA's Development Coordinator has a perfect example of this kind of storytelling:

My special place that I want to highlight and honor on giving Tuesday are the deep canyons of the Snake River and the tributaries that feed it like the Grand Ronde, Imnaha and Wenaha Rivers.  These remote but accessible bodies of water have given so much to me and my family, and with the deep appreciation I have for the anadromous fish that return to their water's year in and year out, this place and its public lands that border it call to me all year long.  The high bluffs provide habitat for bighorn sheep, mule deer and elk.  The rocky outcroppings provide a perch for chukar to call from and Hungarian Partridge find food in and the cold water streams provide steelhead and salmon the critical habitat needed to thrive.

The work that BHA is critical to defending places like this, and I encourage others to look at their special places and what we're doing to preserve them for future generations to enjoy. A gigantic thank you to anyone who can step up and help BHA continue their mission to be the voice for wild public lands, waters and wildlife.

What special place are you donating to BHA in honor of today … and why? Tell your friends, share your story, and ask them to do the same for their special places.
