MISSOULA, Mont. – Reacting the nomination of Laura Daniel-Davis as Interior Assistant Secretary – Lands and Minerals, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers President and CEO Land Tawney offered the following statement:
“Laura brings critical expertise in public policy and public lands management to the Interior Department. As an accomplished policy professional serving two previous presidential administrations, she has the leadership experience that will bring a strong conservation vision to Interior at a crucial time – and a deep appreciation for the natural resource opportunities and challenges she will face in this role.
“At the same time, her work in the nonprofit sector with the National Wildlife Federation has exposed her to the priorities and values of a grassroots membership that hunts, fishes and recreates on our public lands and waters.
“She is an excellent choice for this role at Interior, and we look forward to working with her to ensure the responsible and balanced administration of the public estate.”
Daniel-Davis’s career in the public and nonprofit sectors spans two-plus decades. Most recently she worked with the National Wildlife Federation as chief of policy and advocacy. Previously she was chief of staff to Interior Secretary Sally Jewell and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar.
Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is the voice
