Pawnee Prairie Park, located in southwest Wichita next to Tex Consolver Golf Course and Eisenhower National Airport, is over 400 acres of natural park land with trails that serve hikers, bicyclists and equestrians, along with other amenities. Equestrians and bicyclists have dedicated paths and trails within the park, while hikers are free to roam and explore. The park is home to a variety of mammals such as deer, foxes, beaver, muskrats, raccoons and opossums as well as over 100 species of birds, all which depend on the Cow-skin Creek that runs through the middle of the park. The Cowskin flows through many residential areas before it makes it into the park. That, combined with flooding, makes it prone to bringing large amounts of litter into the park.
Our mission is simple. Pack out as much trash as we can out of the park. Bring your friends, kids, dogs, all of your hiking buddies, just grab a few trash bags and hit the trails! There will be no need to haul the trash around with you; once you fill a bag, leave it on the nearest trail and someone will be by to pick it up.
We'll meet at 9:00 AM
Trash bags, pickers, and cotton gloves will be provided
