Join BHA PA leaders and members for an overnight, out and back hike on the Appalachian Trail.
This free event is open to all and is part of BHA’s annual Hike to Hunt – a fitness and fundraising events across North America. Get complete details HERE and participate if you like, but it is not required to take part in this event.
We will meet and park at Clarks Ferry Park & Ride, PA-147, Duncannon, PA 17020 August 20 at 8:30 AM. Water can be scarce if this is a dry year so bring at least 2 liters to start. We will stay overnight at an area just beyond a trail shelter to the right. If the shelter has room, folks can feel free to stay there. On Sunday, we will hike back to the starting point and our vehicles. Bring tent, or hammocks, snacks and meals for Saturday and Sunday. You will need a water filter to replenish your water supply. Adult beverages may be brought as well for a night around the fire. The first 1.5 miles are at an incline grade of 700 feet and mostly a ridgeline hike from there on. FYI this is a pack it in, pack it out hike. There are no rubbish collections cans or holding spot. You will also need to bear hang your food and other items bears may find attractive. Also the shelter does have a privy.
