Interested in volunteering to help wildlife? Join Wyoming BHA in a fence project on Sunday July 28th. We will be lowering 1.2 miles of “drop fence” on BLM land in the Muddy Creek drainage south of Daniel. Some fences in the region have been converted to more wild-friendly drop fences so the wires can be lowered after cattle grazing and remain lowered until spring when grazing begins again.
Fences are one of the most notable barriers to ungulate migration in Wyoming. Thus, dropping the fence to near-ground level is beneficial to pronghorn, mule deer, and elk migrating through the area. It also benefits greater sage grouse which are commonly killed by mid-flight collisions with fences.
Please contact Erik Kramer by email or phone if you plan on attending to coordinate meeting place and time.
