event_description: Most hunters, anglers, bikers, hikers, campers, and paddlers I know really enjoy drinking good beer, eating delicious wild game, and getting fantastic deals on outdoor gear. North Carolina Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is holding an event at Fiddlin’ Fish Brewing Co. in Winston-Salem on Thursday, May 23rd from 5:00-10:00pm that is designed specifically to get all those folks all those things. ABOUT THE EVENT: Beer, Deer, & Gear is an event designed to raise funds for everyone that participates. For you, there’s the opportunity to sell items that are otherwise collecting dust in your gear closet as well as purchase items at great prices so you can put more of your hard-earned money toward new adventures. Sales happen on consignment and sellers can choose what portion of the sale price gets donated to the chapter, so it’s certainly a fundraiser for NC BHA, too. Plus, there will be some free gear offered up for new and emerging hunters and anglers to help get them get going. The event will run from 5pm-10pm on Thursday, 5/23. On that day, Fiddlin’ Fish will be transformed into an outdoor gear consignment shop and wild game tasting hall, all while slinging their well-crafted brews for both the discerning and widely-accepting palates. THE BEER: The fine brewers at Fiddlin’ Fish Brewing Company are currently crafting a special edition brew just for NC BHA—a session India Pale Ale aptly named BHA IPA—and donating a buck per beer sold to the chapter. The people at Fiddlin’ Fish are stalwart supporters of our Public Lands and Waters so come out and support them by bringing your friends to enjoy some libations and look for great deals on outdoor gear. THE DEER: BHA members and guests are encouraged to bring a dish for a wild game potluck! Bring your favorite crowd-pleaser dish or just show up ready to sample the free wild fare offered by other attendees. We’ll provide napkins, plates, and utensils; you provide the prepared dish and method of serving (yes, there will be outlets for crockpots if needed). El Taco Vaquero Food Truck will be onsite with their incredible menu of delectable dishes on sale to meet the demands of any needy belly. Again, all the wild game food is free, and the tacos are for sale at the food truck. Eat it all!THE GEAR: This is a consignment sale. If you have gear to sell then you will use our web form to register that gear and set your consignment fee that will act as a donation to BHA. People can bring any outdoor gear they want to sell with the notable exclusion of all firearms, ammunition, arrows, bolts, and broadheads. Optics, bows, and other shooting accessories are permitted. For each item, the seller chooses the sale price and the consignment fee rate they want to give to BHA. Consignment fee rate options are 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100%. There is no fee to the buyers. You do not need to be a BHA member to sell or buy gear. Due to space limitations as well as an attempt to curate the inventory, each seller is limited to six (6) items for sale. Additionally, we are collecting gear to be donated to new and emerging hunters. PLEASE use good judgment when considering gear to sell AND gear to give away. No one wants broken, severely damaged, or, well, your garbage. Free gear items are limited to four (4) total per donor and are in addition to the six (6) max count of items for sale.BHA MEMBERSHIPS & GEAR: Of course, we will have a sweet selection of BHA merchandise on hand to sell and we will be ready to sign up new members to the ranks of the fastest growing, hardest hitting, fun lovingest organization of conservation badasses on the planet.EXTRA IMPORTANT DETAILS: If you are going to put up gear for sale then you have a total of five opportunities to submit that gear for consignment.
