Join SD BHA for a fun day outside, creating homes for an endangered species in the Nebraska National Forest of Southwestern South Dakota. We are building bat boxes that will used by the northern long-eared, an endangered species, and other local bat species.
South Dakota has some bat species that are struggling and need our help. While not a game species these bats inhabit some of the same wild landscapes as mule deer, whitetail deer, and other big game. If these bats are not supported and species become listed as endangered, managing the big game habitat will become much more challenging which could impact hunting opportunities.
We have a responsibility as conservationists to protect and improve the whole ecosystem.
This is a remote area with very limited cell service. Come prepared to spend the day outside. Lunch will be provided including grilled burgers and brats and beverages.
