What: Join fellow BHA Front Range members for a hike to ice fish in our public lands for brook, rainbow and cutthroat trout. Tackle, bait and ice augers are provided, but you're encouraged to bring what gear you have, and you must bring your own rod and reels. A two-rod permit from CPW is encouraged. Be sure to dress warm with layers.
When: Meet at 6 am on Saturday, March 5. Fish until early afternoon. Back no later than 4 pm. If weather forces a postponement, this event will be held on March 19.
Where: Meet for carpool at public parking across the street from the Boulder County Justice Dept. in Boulder. Here is long and lat: 40.014675, -105.2870438. Travel from carpool location to the Braindard Lake Recreation trailhead near Ward, hike a 1 1/2 miles on packed snow (snow shoes are not needed) with an elevation gain of about 1,000 ft to Brainard Lake. On the way back, stop for a bite to eat in Nederland.
Why: Meet fellow Front Range BHA members, including members of the Denver and Boulder leadership, while icefishing on our public lands. If you're interested in learning about the Habitat Watchmen Program, coordinator Don Holmstrom is leading this event and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. For more information, contact Don at [email protected] or text 303-990-1487.
