The Armed Forces Initiative of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is taking 6 Veterans on a float trip on the St. Croix river between Minnesota and Wisconsin this June. The Smallmouth Fishing should be amazing this time of year and there is a bonus opportunity for a big Northern Pike or a Musky. We will float for 5 miles before camping on an island in the river for the night, cooking a few fish, and learning about our public lands and waters before floating another 5 miles and taking out the next day.
Plan to arrive at the boat launch campground Friday evening for a meet and greet and plan or being back at your vehicles by 3 pm Sunday afternoon. This trip is primarily for Wisconsin and Minnesota residents but all may apply.
Participants need:
- Wisconsin Fishing license
- Boat clothes (weather dependent)
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Camp stove (jet boil or alike)
- sleep system (40 degree evenings possible)
- bug net for face
- Sun blocking hat
AFI will provide:
- Food
- Coffee
- Tents
- Boats
- Fishing Gear
- Cooking necessaries

Must be a BHA member and a Veteran to attend.
