Arkansas BHA 2024 Catfish Camp

Catfish Camp 2024

Thirty people braved the heat June 21-23 at Lake Dardanelle State Park to spend time with friends and get out on the water chasing America’s favorite whiskered fish. Trot lines, noodles and drop line fishing from boats provided a couple stringers of blue cats. High temperatures and lack of recent rainfall had the fish biting sporadically, but folks still managed to bring some fillets home for their freezers.

The big fish of the weekend was a 13.2 lb blue cat caught by James Brandenburg.

On Saturday a representative from Arkansas Game and Fish spoke to the group about catfish biology and the many different methods to fish for them.

To end the weekend, our host Dr. Michael Bradley, provided everyone with heaping plates of delicious fried catfish.

The use of his pontoon boat and fishing gear along with his knowledge of the area was much appreciated by all.

As people packed up and headed home, smiles and “see you next year” were heard all around. We hope to see you there next year!
