With over 2 million acres of National Forest, hundreds of thousands of acres of lakes and rivers, and a rich heritage of hunting and fishing, Arkansas is a true public land owner’s paradise. Ecosystems as diverse as the pine and hardwood dominated Ozark and Ouachita Mountain regions, to the Arkansas River Valley and the Mississippi River Delta region create habitat for wildlife as varied as alligators and quail, elk and ducks, whitetail deer and black bear. Our lakes and streams provide fishing opportunities for nearly any means and many of the most popular sport fishing species, including trout, bass, and catfish. There is always a season open in Arkansas.
Arkansas BHA's priorities fall into three categories:
- Recruiting and welcoming new hunters and anglers
- Protection of access to public lands and waters
- Engagement with legislators, state agencies, and other conservation organizations
